Greens knocked out of FA Trophy

Out of the blue, in the 31st minute, AFC Dons drew level. They won a left wing corner and, when the ball was played in, no green-shirted player followed GOODLIFFE's run and he had the simple task of side-footing past Wilmot from eight yards out.

Having got back into the game, the Dons began to play with a little more confidence. Finn was well marshalled by Burgess, while James Parker and Marc Leach held their own against Daniel Webb and new signing Mark De Bolla. Wilmot made a good save low by his right post to deny Sam Hatton.

Three minutes before half-time, Wimbledon scored what turned out to their winning goal. It came from the penalty spot, a kick converted by DE BOLLA, who shot to his right as Wilmot dived the other way, but it was a harsh decision against Hendon in general and Dyer in particular.

Ohio primary shows what Mich. missed

They'll spend much of the next week doing the same, beginning with tonight's nationally televised debate in Cleveland and leading up to the potentially decisive March 4 Ohio primary.

It's just the sort of campaign that could have happened six weeks ago, in the days before Michigan's Jan. 15 primary, if the candidates had shown up. Instead, the race in Ohio -- whose economic troubles, by most measures, are second only to Michigan's -- is an echo of what might have been in Michigan.

Wind Tunnel Tuneup: Faster Bikes

The numbers on the meter provide a relative measure of Gotti's aerodynamic efficiency. As the wind flows past Gotti, some of it is interrupted. This causes the floor that takes up most of the center of the tunnel to dip and sway ever so slightly. Since the floor is actually the top of a massive aerodynamic balance, the slightest movement is measured and recorded by a bank of computers. Later these second-by-second samplings will be distilled into information that hopefully will help Gotti win the world's best-known bicycle race.

As the test begins, the numbers on the display fluctuate randomly. Then, as Gotti lowers his head, they begin to drop: 3.0, 2.82, 2.65. The numbers give Gotti a relative measure of the degree to which his bicycle and body impede airflow. Smaller numbers represent less aerodynamic drag.

I'll fight to save Union from SNP, says Brown

My forecast for said bubble to burst will occurr very soon into the New Year when the 32 Scottish Coucils become more fully aware of the "now you see it now you don't" SNP, budgetry con. that has been forced upon them, never mind that John Swinney stated in Holyrood he had signed an agreement with all the 33 councils, a bit of paper which had about as much relevance as the one Chamberlain flourished when returning from Germany declaring "peace in our time"To meet the targets, councils will have to slash and put on a back burner many of their plans, to say nothing of drastically reducing current basic services.Happy New Year- Lang May Y'er Lum's Reek in 2008. .

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - The ballot in Tuesday's special election for the state Senate's 48th District carries the names of Democrat Darrel Aubertine and Republican Will Barclay but the race is just as much a face-off between Gov. Eliot Spitzer and Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno. Aubertine is a dairy farmer from Cape Vincent, first elected to the 118th Assembly in 2002. Barclay was elected the same year in the adjacent 124th Assembly district. His father, H. Douglas Barclay, served in the New York Senate from 1965 to 1984. In a race that grew nasty, the two men sought to replace Republican Sen. Jim Wright, who retired in January after 15 years to take a consulting job.

2 held, cops ‘unearth’ court blasts plot

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force on Saturday claimed to have unearthed the plot behind the serial court blasts in Lucknow, Faizabad and Varanasi after the arrest of two alleged members of the Harkat-ul-Jehad-al-Islami.

The two — Mohammad Tariq Kasmi of Rani Sarai in Azamgarh, and Khalid Mujahid of Madiyahun, Jaunpur — were caught near Barabanki station, 30 km from Lucknow, around 6.20 am.

The cops claimed to have seized 1.25 kg of RDX and three detonators from Tariq and ammonium nitrate and three more detonators from Mujahid.

Additional Director-General (law and order) Brij Lal said Tariq, who has been an active member of HuJI since 2003, was part of its administrative wing while Mujahid used to execute the assignments, which included planting bombs.

The secret scandal of the refugee beggars

While homeless, he would deliberately wheel himself into the path of oncoming traffic. Before being left destitute, he had been attending college. Despite the government forcing him into destitution, the Home Office later did a U-turn and gave him temporary leave to remain in Scotland. PAIH describes this as "the most extreme form of a Kafkaesque bureaucracy".

In August, a destitute failed asylum seeker from Iraq, 28-year-old Solyman Rashed, was returned to Baghdad. He had fled his homeland in 2001 because of persecution under Saddam's regime. On September 3, he was killed in a car bomb in Kirkuk. In Glasgow, just 10 people attended a vigil in his memory.

"There are more and more people coming to us who were made homeless, then later given indefinite leave to remain," says Reilly.
