Capturing the Moment: NFL Films at Super Bowl XLII
It is no different, really, than the pregame meal for the two teams. All the personnel gather in a hotel ballroom and after the dishes are cleared away, we go over the game plan one last time. Every assignment is checked, every detail is reviewed. .
Assaults by Masked Man Instill Alarm
When it opened two decades ago, the Prince George's County Correctional Center was heralded as a "new generation" jail. Corrections officials from across the country dropped in to tour it. In 1994, President Bill Clinton chose it as his stage to announce a national drug policy. .
Paranoid son jailed for 8 years for manslaughter
Kenneth John McDermott was originally charged with murder but the court found he had diminished responsibility at the time of the killing. It did not give him a defence to unlawful killing but it did give him a defence to a murder charge. McDermott, 42, of the Gold Coast, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Kevin Walter McDermott, on August 31, 2003. Today, Justice John Byrne sentenced McDermott to eight years jail with a recommendation he be eligible to apply for parole after serving three years. He declared the 775 days McDermott had spent on remand as time served on the sentence. Prosecutor Todd Fuller said the matter had a lengthy history before both the Mental Health Court and the Court of Appeal. He said McDermott, who was suffering from depression at the time, visited his estranged father, stepmother and half sister and half brother at a property at Harlin, northwest of Brisbane near Kilcoy.

Let's say that works out to a hundred twenty paged script double spaced, when you break that down to single spaces you're talking about forty-five pages, that's like Cliff's Notes to history and I didn't want the film to be like a Cliff's Notes to history. Sometimes, I'm asked if I'm an activist filmmaker and I always say, "Well, I did the Bob Evans film. What was my cause, the Irving Thalberg award?" If I'm an activist, my primary cause is nonfiction filmmaking and trying to make films that stretch out the boundaries of nonfiction, I don't think I'm a documentarian because I think that culturally, we like to think of documentarians as journalists and I'm anything but a journalist. Nonfiction film is going further and further away from the static image. Digital tools have now entered the vanguard and we now as filmmakers have all these technologies to visualize the past and the present and those ways are completely subjective.
