A business news channel, which has been highlighting the grey market premium on Reliance Power in the run-up to the close of the IPO, was on the defensive today. It carried a poll which said none of the brokers it polled expected the share to list below its issue price. According to the channel, 53 per cent of the brokers it spoke to, expected Reliance Power to list at Rs 550-600. "Retail investors who were allotted 16 or 17 shares at the rate of Rs 430 each stand to lose little in the IPO," says Amit Sanghvi, a Mumbai-based broker. His advice: hold on to the shares till the market sentiment improves. Reliance Power is expected to earn its first revenues from 2009 and earn its first profits only from the following year from the several Ultra-Mega Power Projects it is setting up across the country.
Raining all over the WASL
Steve Smith reports three subscription cancellations over Doug Clark's send-up of "My Way" a la Mayor West. Other feedback, particularly from those who listened to the audio version, has been more positive. Does Doug the singer get more latitude than Doug the writer? A more serious note on the same subject - how do we provide people with information on how to sign the recall petitions without appearing to be promoting the recall itself? We can't get involved in a political campaign, but we also have an obligation to assist citizens with their civic duties. The recall effort differs from other initiative campaigns because it is a grassroots effort exclusive to our city (for instance, we regularly publish contact/location information for the group seeking to disincorporate Spokane Valley).
Product recalls: Toy helicopters, all-terrain vehicles, pendants ...
Soft Air USA Inc. is recalling about 30,000 remote-controlled helicopter toys. The rechargeable battery contained inside the helicopter can catch fire during charging, igniting the helicopter and nearby combustible materials. This poses a burn or fire hazard to consumers. This recall involves the remote-controlled helicopter toy "Fun2Fly Microcopter" with item number 91001. The helicopter comes with a transmitter that controls and recharges the helicopter. The helicopter is made of foam and plastic and measures about 61/2 inches by 21/2 inches. The transmitter measures about 41\u20442 inches by 5 inches. "Fun2Fly" and "Microcopter" are printed on the packaging. The item number is printed above the UPC label. Sporting goods stores and other retailers sold the toy from May through December for about $30.
Candidates press cases for Round 2
I have always admired your family and the things they stood for. I was in college when that fatal day came and we no longer had our inspiration, your brother. I am disappointed in who you are endorsing. To think about all the times that the Clintons were here for you, and now you just put them aside. I think about it, and I thougt you were above the good old boys. Not so sure about that now. Hillary, a women. Maybe that just does not sit well with you Kennedys. I just don't understand. She is a great lady that certainly helped your party out by staying with Bill. The party owes her more than a senate seat. She should have all of you out there shouting her attributes. It was alright for Bill to be used to get votes for our new governor. He also has a short memory. I will have a hard time voting for either one of you because of this.
Vancouver city council enacts helmet law
Beginning in 30 days, all cyclists and skaters in Vancouver will have to strap on helmets or risk receiving a $50 ticket. The city council, by a 5-1 vote Monday, decided to require both juveniles and adults to wear helmets when riding bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, roller blades, scooters and unicycles on public streets, sidewalks and trails. Once the law takes effect, Vancouver will become the first city in Clark County to require helmets. Safety was the prime reason for the law. Councilwoman Jeanne Harris recounted how, more than 25 years ago, a bicyclist wearing a helmet smacked into her car and walked away. "I can’t tell you how it affected me that I could have hurt somebody," Harris said. "You can’t plan not to have an accident, and that is what’s this is about.

This just in, the Bucks are horrible. They lost to the Knicks and Clippers at home, yet the coach still tries to sell us on the fact that they can miraculously turn this around after the all star break. He keeps using the P word that ends with layoffs. I can't in good conscience put that word together in this blog when talking about the Bucks. This is what happens when you have a lame duck GM, much less an idiot lame duck GM. The Bucks need a complete overhaul from ownership to the floor. I'd love to see Mark Attanasio or somebody like him make the Senator an offer he can't refuse. Keep Yi, ditch everybody else from Bogut to Redd. Maybe keep Royal Ivey...JOKING!!! Tomorrow night the Badgers play at Indiana. That is going to be a tough game and I'm actually expecting a loss. Anything can happen, but I'm not going to hold my breath the way they've been in the last 3 weeks.
CALDWELL'S WWE RAW REPORT 2/25: Ongoing "virtual time" coverage of ...
Lawler talked about Rock doing a presentation last night at the Oscars, but it won't compare to his honor at WrestleMania weekend. [Q8] Announcers continued: Lawler plugged Candice & Maria vs. Beth Phoenix & Melina in a Playboy bunny match at WrestleMania. They went to footage of Maria's Playboy photo shoot. She did a voice-over on the "fashion shoot with fewer clothes." Maria said that for anyone to tell a girl you look hot naked, it makes you feel good. Next week is the Playboy cover unveiling. ... Ross and Lawler plugged the big tag match main event next. [Commercial Break] In-ring: Mr. Kennedy came to the ring first for the main event. No promo, as he's too focused on the match at hand. WWE champion Randy Orton came out next. He took his sweet old time. And he can do that because he's the champion.
