Gryboski, a doctor in South Yarmouth, also told police that Lancaster had physically and mentally abused her and their two sons for years... Read the rest of this Globe story here. Leave a comment _____________________________

Delegation should act on climate change

Oregonians are getting used to hearing warnings about the problems that are expected to accompany climate change. But last week, the cautions came not from Oregon State University scientists or government officials, but from hunters and fishermen.

From their vantage points on the state's deserts, mountains, streams and bays, these sportsmen and women have gotten an early look at the effects of global warming. They're concerned for the future of Oregon's treasured salmon, waterfowl and other wildlife. They're calling on Congress to act.

For many Oregonians, this will strike home. Hunting, angling and wildlife viewing are some of the activities that people most enjoy in this state. They also play a key part in Oregon's economy. About 2 million participants support more than 42,000 jobs, according to a 2001 survey by the U.S.

World War I war bond posters on display at Smithsonian

Slap a frightful image of your foe on a public poster promoting war bonds.

During the First World War, the American government launched a sweeping poster campaign to raise funds for the clash against the Central Powers and in particular, Germany.

Persuasive, inspiring and occasionally disconcerting, war bond posters proved a formidable public relations tool for the U.S. government, and helped it cover a significant portion of the wars financial cost.

At the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the illustrative power of these war posters takes center stage in a special display on view through Feb. 3.

Over the Top: American Posters from World War I presents 44 vintage posters from four Liberty Loan campaigns, the War Saving Stamps program, the Victory Loan and support for the Red Cross.

Keammar confident, but thankful

Jamaica's Keammar Daley focuses as he attempts a bicycle kick during the Pan American Games semi-final against Mexico in Rio de Janeiro during July last year.

Seeing this young man on the football field, one would never imagine that he is just 19 years old.

Poised, prolific and ready to strike, Meadhaven United's star player, Keammar Daley, exuberates class and style way beyond his years.

"I have a God-given talent. Football is natural to me," Daley said.

His hard work has already started to pay off, as on Tuesday night he was rewarded at the 47th RJR Sports Foundation 2007 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year awards ceremony for scoring four vital goals that helped to steer the Under-21 Reggae Boyz to a silver medal finish at the Pan American Games in Brazil last year.
