| Zipping along in Quebec's Laurentians
Fall slips gently into Quebec, like the sinking afternoon sun. Bugs disappear, steamy hot weather cools, crowds dwindle. Hotel rates inch downward too. Make no mistake, though, fun still runs full throttle.
Just an hour north of Montreal in the Laurentians, scream the entire 987 feet of North America's longest zip line, part of the adventure course at Acro-Nature at Ski Morin Heights. Zip lines, suspended ladders and wobbly wooden beams wind high in the trees on a four-zone, 58-station course.
College student instructors hook you up with lessons on how to use the lines, ensuring that you don't forget to latch your carabineer to the red "life line" of safety. And since the course gradually climbs, even if you're a bit squeamish about heights you probably won't notice until that last long zip line just how high up you are.

Today had the last big climb of the race and it was the last climb [of the day], so I had do something to shake the race up because there's not many opportunities left. I had two team-mates sprint full-out on the climb and they were going real fast. When they pulled off, I just kept it going. I think what happened was that the people on my wheel lost my wheel, and the GC riders weren't in the position to grab my wheel or they couldn't, so a gap opened up. I was hoping someone else would come with me... Also, everyone knew the downhill was long and wide open and not very technical; you had to pedal the whole thing, so a group could easily come back and they [the GC riders] were counting on that. But I had to give it a try, because like I said, that was really the last big opportunity to do something.

Fury that lorry caused ‘standstill’
It caused mayhem for commuters during the morning rush hour with many major cross-Forth routes brought to a virtual standstill. Traffic heading south across the bridge was also reduced to single file as the lorry had tipped over far enough to impede the opposite carriageway. Some motorists took more than four hours to reach their destinations as tens of thousands of drivers were diverted via Kincardine and Stirling. Helen Eadie, who represents Dunfermline East, has called on Scottish Government ministers to carry out an urgent inquiry into what went wrong. The Labour MSP got caught up in the chaos as she headed for the Scottish Parliament and said east central Scotland had been brought to a standstill. I left the house this morning just after 7.30 am and arrived at the Parliament shortly before 11.45 am, she told The Courier.
Couric Praises Media for Predicting Recession
In a cyclical economy recession is a given every now and then, and media predictions will occasionally be right. But that doesn't make those media claims reliable barometers of state of the economy. Couric also failed to mention the media's role in creating a recession. How does she expect the American public to react when all the media talks about is recession? Practically every night, viewers are bombarded with negative coverage of the economy. Does she expect that will encourage people to spend money? No, the media's constant doom-and-gloom reporting scares people. If consumers fear an oncoming recession, they'll want to save their money - Couric even suggests in her notebook video that viewers "build a cash cushion and prepare to sit tight." .

We met women who had been missionaries in Kenya and greeted me in Swahili, and farmers who tracked the financial pages of The Wall Street Journal before setting out on their tractors. Several times a day, I pointed out to Dan the number of men we met sporting white linen slacks or silk Hawaiian shirts. In the small dining room of a Democratic party official in Du Quoin, I asked the local state's attorney about crime trends in his largely rural, almost uniformly white county, expecting him to mention joy-riding sprees or folks hunting out of season. "The Gangster Disciples," he said, munching on a carrot. "We've got an all-white branch down here – kids without jobs, selling dope and speed." By the end of the week, I was sorry to leave. Not simply because I had made so many new friends, but because in the faces of all the men and women I'd met I had recognised pieces of myself.

Those who have to get out of their bed to go and toil to ensure that the country functions, are not allowed to share in that luxury.The present shower of Champagne socialists make sure they never have to take industrial action when they wish to plunder the gravy train. So, why should any other section of the public be denied the right to defend their living standards? The present political impostors have squandered billions upon billions of taxpayers contributions to the exchequer purse and in the process, have rapidly reduced the country to almost Third World Status in the process.I have no particular fondness for the police at the present moment as daily crime keeps soaring out of hand; but, I most certainly wouldn't like to wake up tomorrow morning without them being available.Good luck to them! They are only a fragment off the impending industrial unrest as the general cost of living keeps spiralling out of control under the prudent Brown.
